I am a Danish artist who has lived in England all of my adult life.
It was in 2001 that I seriously began exploring working in clay; first at Morley College, London, under the guidance of Duncan Hooson, a brilliant ceramic artist and educator and later I shared my passion both at North Street Potters, in London and at Weybridge Pottery.
I have taught both adults and children at 318 Ceramics, at the historical Farnham Pottery in Wrecclesham and soon after i started teaching for Surrey Adult Learning where i am still tutoring.
In August 2019 I completed an MA in Ceramics at UCA, University For The Creative Arts, Farnham and was subsequently offered the role as Artist in Residence (AiR) at Farnham University for the following academic year. I enjoyed continuing the creative exploration of my “Damaged Goods” pieces in an environment shared by excellent artistic colleagues and students.
During my residency, myself and four other artists in residence founded “Making Matters”, which have been instrumental in creating community projects: “Another Brick in the Wall” with people connected to Farnham. During Covid it was so positive to work with different local communities in creating personalised bricks, which in turn became building blocks for brick installations around Farnham. One; “A Fishy Tale” was built next to the University of Creative Arts, (UCA) where our initial idea first hatched.
Since this community project, the Mayor of Farnham has chosen to launch Farnham’s Annual Craft Month in the Making Matters’ pop-up shop. This was also the case when Farnham was granted World Craft Town status in 2020 being the first English World Craft Town.
Between 1st October and 24th December 2023 Making Matters is for the fouth year running a pop-up shop in the heart of Farnham.
I have now got a studio both in Denmark and here in England and I will be looking for opportunities to engage with both communities to exhibit my art and collaborate with other artists.
